Queen Margaret's School is a vibrant, happy community living and working in the most perfect of settings, Escrick Park, six miles south of York.

The girls follow a broad curriculum for three years before selecting at least nine GCSEs from a wide range of core and optional subjects, a policy which provides all the strengths of the National Curriculum without its restrictions.

Twenty five subjects are offered at AS and A2 level in the Sixth Form of typically 120 girls. The School has an established reputation for academic excellence and most girls expect to go on to university.

Full time staff are expected to teach about 21 periods of one hour each week, including Saturday mornings. There is a generous allocation of free periods.

Working conditions are excellent and Queen Margaret's has its own salary scale.

The residential side of the school is largely in the hands of Housemistresses, but there is no divide between resident staff, many of whom teach, and teaching staff, most of whom have pastoral responsibilities.
