Library
The
school has
a large, well stocked library housed in the now substantially extended
library
of the former private country house at the heart of the campus.
There is
a
comprehensive range of non-fiction and reference books, as well as
daily
newspapers and a selection of magazines and periodicals. The fiction
section of
the library caters for all reading abilities.
In
addition to
the two computer stations, the library has full wireless access so that
girls
with school laptops can easily link to the school’s intranet
and the Internet. The
library is available for the girls’ use at all times.
Places to
sit
cater for both formal study and leisure reading with Thompson of
Kilburn tables
and chairs as well as sofas and easy chairs.
In the
autumn
term, girls in the lower school receive library induction lessons where
they
are taught how to locate resources and
access the information constructively. These basic skills are
reinforced and
expanded throughout the curriculum, with the librarian working along
side
subject teachers to deliver the full range of information skills.
Girls can
also
buy books in the school’s own bookshop which holds a variety
of popular fiction
and non-fiction titles. They can also order specific books for leisure
reading
or to support their academic studies.
