Fundraising

The school is extremely grateful to all those Old Margaretians, parents, staff and other friends who have supported Queen Margaret's in its appeals and through legacies. Without this support the school would not have some of the facilities it now enjoys.

In the past, appeals have been launched when a significant sum was needed to finance a specific project, such as the Centenary Building. While there are no major appeals open at present, continued support is always welcome, be it to fund scholarships or future development.

Legacies

Enquiries have been made about legacies, how they might be arranged or how a gift might be used. To answer these and other questions an information pack has been produced. Trees Please

The Development Office is currently inviting friends of the school to help maintain the school's splendid grounds by sponsoring the planting of a new tree. Our tree-planting programme will ensure that future generations at QM will enjoy the school's delightful setting as we do now.

It is inevitable in mature parkland that trees will be lost through wind damage or disease and Escrick Park is no exception. Add to this the trees required under the planning conditions for our development programme and planting becomes a continuous rather than occasional activity.

Replacement trees are always required and it was felt that asking members of the QM community to sponsor a tree might not only help to fulfil our programme but would also give the sponsor a tangible association with the future well-being of the school's grounds.

It is proposed that a sponsored tree would be registered and its location recorded so that a sponsor could follow its progress and perhaps, after a few years, enjoy its shade.

Selection of tree species may be governed by specific requirements at the time but it is anticipated that some choice would be available. At present our requirement is for oak, beech and cedars.

Any residue from an individual donation would be set aside for future tree purchases and maintenance of the grounds.
