Community Life

Each year the Headmaster chooses a team of Prefects to lead the school. There are other positions of responsibility at every level at QM, allowing many girls to gain experience of leadership, service and responsibility - ranging from membership of the School Council to a dorm monitor. A complex system of 'guardian angels' is organised by Heads of Year and Housemistresses to ensure that each new girl is welcomed and supported during her first weeks at the school. At every level girls are encouraged to take responsibility for each other and to contribute to all aspects of school life.

Catering

QM's philosophy is that girls should enjoy good quality, healthy food served in pleasant surroundings. There must also be a choice of dishes - hot, cold and vegetarian; salads and fresh fruit should always be available. Meals, prepared from our own kitchens, are offered on a self-service system with the girls free to sit where they choose in the large bright central dining room. In addition, Years II - V and the Sixth Formers have kitchen areas in their houses where extra snacks and a drink can be prepared. Red House has a large family kitchen where Year I girls and their Housemistress can enjoy a hot or cold drink and a biscuit together.
