Pastoral Support
The Housemistresses, many of whom also teach, are usually the first point of contact, but there is a wide network of pastoral support for all girls, whether they are in need of formal advice or just a sympathetic ear and a cup of something. For academic support and guidance, each girl has a Form Tutor and a Year Head who meet regularly with the girls' Housemistresses and any serious matters affecting an individual girl's progress or welfare can then be referred to the Deputy Head.
The school's Medical Centre, housed in Cloisters, has two fully qualified resident nursing sisters; they work in close liaison with Housemistresses and doctors from the village practice, who hold regular surgeries at school and who are on call should the need arise.
QM also employs a School Listener, a trained counsellor, to whom the girls can speak in confidence about any issue.
